I hadn't planned on stopping for anything other than a photo, but decided on the spur of the moment to pop in and see what beers were on. And was pleased to find a beer from local Reedley Hallows called Pendleside 4% (NBSS 3.5, £4/pint). On a midweek afternoon it was quiet, with just the owner and one other customer, but we had a bit of a chat while I drank my half and took a couple of photos to help me remember the place. The other beer on the hand pumps was one of those Hobgoblin "fake cask" beers that CAMRA is campaigning about, and which I duly reported. This pub is situated in a country area on the outskirts of Briercliffe in what barely deserves the word hamlet - more like a straggle of houses - so it's a marvel that it survives. The car park may explain.
