Carl Urmston left this review about The Hand & Shuttle
Ungentrified survivor slightly set back from the main drag at the bottom of the hill. It still sports old Thwaites brewery signs. Upon entering you find a small, dimly-lit L-shaped room around a bar. A couple of older regulars were here and the atmosphere and service felt quite friendly, in contrast to the rather austere appearance from outside. No real ale. One for the locals.
