An old roadside pub sat on the edge of a roundabout, oak beamed inside it once would have been a good boozer but now has more of a family dining feel, three handpumps, all bereft of any beer signage so I jus enquired as to the availabilty of any real ale, the lady behind the bar replied "we have this" tapping a keg London Pride font, I settled for a Stella. Not really my kind of place but I can see the attraction to some.

Large attractive roadside pub by the roundabout with bits dating from C17th. Pub has two rooms, with a low ceiling in the left bar along with wonky black beams (original or salvage?) and inglenook fireplace. The right hand bar is bigger and seems to be used as a footy/games room with two TV’s, pool and darts (though both were out of use on my Saturday afternoon visit). A fair bit of effing and jeffing in the main bar which I imagine would put off the casual punter. Impressed to see three local ales (Twickenham, Binghams Space Hoppy, Ascot Alligator) but quality was all over the place; the Twickenham was excellent, the Ascot cloudy with bits and the Space Hoppy decidedly odd. The only pub in Slough where I spotted anything from the local CAMRA branch. Amusement value via the labyrinthine gents toilets which seemed to be anticipating 20 times the amount of punters that were in attendance. There’s certainly potential here but the beer needs sorting out. If that can be got right, this would be a no-brainer to visit in the town.

I have visited this pub on many occasions and have enjoyed the humble atmosphere in the bar. The food is heaps better then it used to be thanks to a new experienced chef that has totally reinvented the standard Red Cow menu that has got me going back for seconds!!!
