The Grapes Inn was the first pub of a recent, let’s say interesting, Tuesday evening crawl of the area. Through the entrance into the dimly lit pub one is faced by a small L-shaped bar counter that supports standard keg. Along the front windows to the right of the entrance are banquettes and against the far right wall is the oche for the dartboard. In the right rear is a room with a pool table. A room in the left of the pub was lights out. The Chase was on the television, TNT Sport is advertised so expect football when on. The locals were harmless enough sat pretty much in silence supping on their pints. The governor was friendly, although my pint of Fosters was a bit short, then again it was only £3.30 so I didn’t bother asking for a top up. I always worry for the future of a pub when the majority of lights are off to save on electricity. One for the locals.
