Blue Scrumpy left this review about Cherry Tree
Now know as the Cherry Tree, this establishment is now more of a restaurant than a pub. It used to be a transport cafe and now feels like a posh Little Chef.
You enter to find a podium where you have to wait to be seated. There is a bar in front of you, but table service is the only option. On the right-hand side near the bar, tables are mainly low ones apart from a couple of high ones. There is a conservatory area to the front right with a TV. This is presumably used for any live sporting events. Off to the left of the entrance is the main dining area where there are some impressive cherry trees in blossom and lots of other plants around.
The bar had an unclipped handpull, but on enquiring, the lady at the podium looked at her computer and despite a poor effort at pronouncing the brewery and bear name, I concluded that Beartown Creme Bearlee was available. Pick of the keg beers was Meantime Anytime IPA. The cider was Cornish Orchards Golden. I ended up with a soft drink which was delivered by a waitress but had not come from the bar.
There is also an outdoor area to the front and a large car park off to the right. Children are allowed in.
On a weekday lunchtime, I didn't feel too comfortable just having a drink. Perhaps the atmosphere changes a little in the evening and outside of meal times. However on the basis of this visit, it's not a place I'd recommend.

used to go to the Thatch all the time, but sadly last year for personal reasons we stopped going..However must admit since it reopened this mth [feb 2010], we've been back twice already because the FOOD is absloutely fantastic and the new lower prices are even better.. The friendly approach and great atmoshere that is created by the new managers Jacqui and Rog make this a great place to visit..And the location is pleasant as well.......We'll be back.
