A recent upturn here, with Harveys Sussex Best appearing as a regular and in good shape.
January 2015
I think the licensee has changed. Last two visits have found a staid and unchanging ale selection (Pride, Doom Bar and Sheps Spitfire - barely a hop between them) in distinctly middling condition. A shame if that's the new norm.
April 2014
The Waggon combines a good mix of country pub ambience (flagstone floor, low wooden beams, nice big garden with an aviary) with a couple of concessions to the fact it's just on the edge of Twyford centre (big TV for sport, dartboard). There's usually three to four ales on the go (Courage Best and Pride are usually there, sometimes along with a LocAle and an interesting guest). The quality is usually pretty good. Perhaps one downside is that the inside can feel a bit dark and gloomy in summer as the pub front doesn't catch much light. However the garden is fab in the summer months; the interior comes into its own in winter. I like the place and it makes a good combination with the Duke of Wellington just down the road.

Enter to find lovely old flagstone floor, low ceilings, Courage, Pride, Landlord. Two real fires, a plasma in the front bar area, stained glass porthole window above the optics, dartboard & oche given their own space – 2 teams play out of here. Make sure you stroll into the large garden to check out the well-populated aviary, I'll bet the large pub cat regularly does!
