The Gatefield was a decent sized pub that situated just off the town centre in an area that had industrial units.
Once inside the pub had two seperate rooms,there was a lounge which was smartish but had proably seen better days,the bar was a decent size and a bit on the basic side.
The pub was a Marstons tied house,there was one real ale on the bar,which was Marstons bitter,this was a decent enough drink.
It is a great shame that this is yet another pub in Ashton Under Lyne to close down.
