I called in here in a celebratory mood, having watched Luton Town win 4-1 at the Crown Ground, though Accrington ended up as champions that season. I had just time for a swift half of John Smith's Smooth Crap, as Alan Winfield always used to call it, before catching a train to Todmorden. It was only £2.10/pint. This was getting on for 10 years ago, and there are still pubs where this beer is sold at around £2. I've only just discovered my photos from that day and dug out my notebook to refresh my memory.
