One of the worst places i have ever had the misfortune to go to. I felt ashamed that i took my close friends to this place after we left.
The rudeness of the staff was jaw dropping after politely saying the potatoes were slightly cold.
I was also sworn at on my way out. Never again. Take note. Avoid!

The Cherry Tree is a large Victorian high street pub, originally owned by Whitbread and called The Shakespeare. It was then a quite fashionable place, having stables, a billiard hall and a large function room. In the 1960s it was renamed The Shire and became associated with the drug culture, though as far as I am aware, the current Cherry has lost that reputation. The garden is now used as a car park, which was empty when I visited. I eventually found the door and on entering, found a cavernous room with an enormous carvery - the largest I've seen - in the centre. Everything is new and the predominant smell is paint, so they've obviously just refurbished. No food was on offer though, even though someone who looked like a chef was standing with three other members of staff doing nothing. The place was dead, and there was no ale on. It all felt very weird, and I can't really see my rushing back.
