Strongers . left this review about The Bull

The Bull was closed when I passed by on a recent Monday evening and a sign in the window gave the opening times as midday until late on Fridays and Saturdays. The sign also states that there is no entry after 1am so it looks like this pub is now a late night weekend bar. If anyone is planning on visiting make sure you wear a top as there is a ‘no shirt no service’ policy.

The earliest record of a pub on this site is from 1544, since when The Bull (also known as Ye Old Bull) has been a hotel and an inn. It was previously much larger than its current form. It used to be the prefered pub for farmers on market days and became a grand hotel in the early 20th Century. Now it's a two room high street pub, which does lunches. There was a friendly welcome from the staff , although they didn't seem to know what they were doing. Spitfire was the only on offer, but it was badly kept and tasted very gassy. Worth dropping in for a quick bite, but I wouldn't recommend it for its beer.
