A more misnamed pub it would be difficult to find- Charisma, as well as beer, is what this one lacks. Previously The Kings Arms, it had been closed for several years before re-opening under the new name in Jan 22. Most of the interior is still not open. It sits between the high street and church, and there is a small terraced area at the side which has good views of neither. Inside, the single bar has the décor and atmosphere of a Bulgarian massage parlour, an effect achieved through failing to be an atmospheric cocktail bar, which was the original intention. The PYT behind the bar was clueless, which in the end didn’t matter as there was absolutely nothing worth drinking. Even the megakeg choice was dire, and the cocktail menu failed to impress. It was a long way to come, so I had a pint in the Highlander, opposite, before the return journey. It’s not worth making a longer journey to get here as I don’t believe in farther charismas.
