Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Butchers Block
The former Toastmasters is now an upmarket dining pub set in an unexpected side-street location. Modernised but semi-traditional bar at the front, with various dining rooms further back. Also has three round wooden benches out on a narrow front terrace. Just one handpump on the central servery, but this dispensed a very palatable pint of Goachers Special House Ale (£4.40).

Totally refurbished, with apparently a bistro to follow soon to replace the departed curry house. Has been done in a similar style to the White Horse in Borstal; a nice blend of modern and traditional. Needs some final touches to give it a local feel, such as local pictures, team trophies, darts board etc. Has moved from shabby to a pub with great potential.

E TA left this review about Toastmaster Inn & Restaurant
A pub whose crown has slipped over the last ten years or so, The Toastmasters was previously known for its outstanding food, ale and cider, but has now become a fairly ordinary business. The restaurant which is entered from the car park at the back is now an Indian. There is a small saloon bar entered through the side door, and the main bar, which has a smaller room leading off it, is at the front. There is a tv screen, dartboard and gaming machine for those who like such things. Some of the old church pews previously used for seating still remain, and the small lounge area has a plastic covered sofa facing the sad looking open fireplace. Two ales and 2 ciders on, all well kept. It's a shadow of its former self but still worth a visit if passing.
