A Fullers outlet, housed in a lovely building (note the bell tower and weather vane) that was unfortunately shrouded in scaffolding when we visited. We entered via the rear car park entrance via a modern glass conservatory-esque porchway. The main fabric of the interior is pretty interesting with wood strip floor, half wood wall panelling and a lovely bar back with carved gargoyles leering out from it. Two rooms, the one down a step on the right-hand side showing rugby, the other one being a quiet eating area, whilst a small strip of seating is in front of the bar for casual drinkers. We settled here, and I sat in an intriguing seat made from half an old whisky vat. Décor noted included some ceramic jugs hanging from a ceiling beam and a collection of cricket ephemera in the dining area. Three ales at the bar from the Fullers stable, ESB, HSB and Pride. My HSB was in very good shape, though Desmond was less-than-impressed with his lemonade. Very expensive here, as is sadly normal in most Fullers outlets these days. Selection of daily papers spotted. Accommodation available. More than enough here to warrant a visit if nearby.

Only called in as we passed..............NICE pint of London Pride, I mean NICE. Intend to go back soon and try another one (or 2).
