Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Jolly Fisherman
Art Deco pub, close to the beach but just hidden from Romney Sands by the dunes. Modernised inside to leave the general seating at the curved end, the bar counter in the centre and the dining room at the far end. Basic patio beer garden at the front. Purity's Pure UBU (£4.70) available from one of the pair of handpumps.

Four handpumps on the counter - a bank of two apparently unused, and of the other bank of two one had a Hobgoblin clip reversed with the other dispensing Doom Bar (£3.50 a pint). They do food, but I didn't see a menu.
The main room on the corner is dominated by a pool table in the middle of the room; there were a couple of small tables by the window on the left, but with sofas occupying the sides of the room everywhere else. One didn't have a table in front of it, which I thought degraded its usefulness even further. There were a couple of standard tables in the narrow area in front of the counter, leading to a further area where all tables were laid for diners. This in turn led to another room with more tables laid for diners. I would expect that after the holiday season the balance of available seating might swing in favour of drinkers, as there just cannot be a call for such a large dining area out of season. There's some brewer's rustic inside, as well as a brick built bar counter.
When I was in at about 8.00 PM on a Tuesday evening there were a couple of family groups, complete with kids, around the pool table area, plus a couple of blokes sitting at the bar - and yours truly sitting at one of the normal tables. There's now a fair bit of outside seating at the front of the pub, and they had set up a trampoline presumably for kids' use.
This is a fairly ordinary pub. But it is the best pub in Greatstone following the sad demise of the Seahorse down the road a couple of years ago. I will no doubt visit again at some stage, as it's the only pub within easy walking distance of my sister's house.

Once again I have found The Jolly Fisherman devoid of real ale and charm. Its 1960s seaside feel reminds me of what I hated so much about that decade. I didn't feel welcome, the staff weren't friendly and there was nothign about the place that made me want to stay for more than one pint. It's a pity, as there is a ot ofpotential here; the location, building and area are all fine, it's just this pub that isn't.
