Steady town pub surviving

The Kings Head is a long and narrow pub with plasma screens throughout and a projector unit that shoots a huge picture onto the wall in the centre of the pub. During my Friday afternoon visit the screens were showing a mix of golf and muted rally driving. At the rear is a pool table and beyond is the rear exit that leads to some seating and a covered smoking area out the back. There was some back music playing off the jukebox which in some parts of the bar was competing with the sound of the golf.
The clientele was very mixed and the barmaid was polite enough once I had finally got her gaze. Standard draught is available from the bar and I didn’t see any food advertised.

This place has been modernised at some point in the past so it is far from a traditional pub. I think that there are better pubs in the area so I do not plan a return visit anytime soon.

The Kings Head (1778 to present) 8 & 9 King Street opened briefly in 1995 as Equinox but reverted back to The Kings Head. King Street has been known as St.Thomas Street and Pelican Row.
