Built in 1967 and originally a Courage pub, The Medway Queen is named after the eponymous paddle steamer which became famous for its role in the Dunkirk evacuations. It's a pretty awful estate pub with a large car park paved with fag butts. The building consists of a single large bar with accommodation above and is of the design usually associate with Poulson. There is a small garden to one side. A pool table keeps the aggressive, unwelcoming local yoofs occupied, there are tv screens and a gaming machine and there are plenty of sports trophies on display. The floor is carpeted, there is plenty of cheap, battered furniture, and the competing smells of sweat and feet complete the picture. No real ale. It's so grimy that I actually drank my bottled Newcastle Brown from the bottle. Avoid.
