What looks like a cosy stone-fronted pub in the High Street proves less so inside. The walls are painted in dark grey giving something of a cave effect, brightened up only by several TVs which were blaring out a rather noisy football match, much to the discomfiture of a few people trying to have lunch. The tattooed barman was friendly enough but it didn't feel like a place to hang about if not watching the sport. The Proper Job was in good condition; I didn't try the Doom Bar.

Handily positioned next to the bus stop - with 30 mins until the next one, we decided to head in to this locals bar.

Low roof, Euros on and rather full.

Friendly bar staff. Sadly, I didnt spot the Proper Job until I had ordered by Bierre Moritti.... taking it for a non cask kind of place.

That will teach me to judge books....

While staying in Shanklin I came into Ventnor one evening by bus and after a drink on the Esplanade I went looking for a pub
showing the Euro semi final and found here, very welcoming and very reasonably priced drinks to, great for the bus as stop is
right outside.
