Peter Forster left this review about The High Park Tavern
A typical late Victorian suburban pub, the High Park Tavern once looked cross the road at another pub; The Lake Superior. The Lake, together with all of the other pubs on this side of Ryde, have long gone leaving this as the isolated lone survivor. The High Park Tavern looks worn from the outside but going inside is quite tidy. It has one reasonable large wood floored bar with unfortunate piped music and the obligatory gaming machine. At 14:30 on a Thursday it was busy with locals. The hand pump on the bar was Doom Bar but more interestingly a cask sat on the bar counter was dispensing an enjoyable Aye Aye pale ale from the Monkey Brewhouse across the Solent in Lymington. I could happily have continued with this all day (NBSS 4). According to the barmaid they have a new barrel of a different beer every Tuesday. Clearly this is a locals pub but I didn’t feel unwelcome and credit for the real ale. Recommended if in this part of Ryde and maybe even worth the journey from the town centre.
