Formerly a small coaching inn judging by the courtyard entrance to the side. This was the main Cambridge road before the A10 was diverted past Ware. The interior is pleasingly authentic with a good sized inglenook to the right of the front door and much carved wood to admire. There is a darts board to the left of the entrance near a bay window, while the bar runs down a side wall. There is a raised ballustraded area opposite the bar with a flat screen (off) and a clock enclosed in a glass cabinet. The only nod to modernity are a couple of sofas while the regulars gather on bar stools in front of the handpumps and keg taps. The rear room is set as a restaurant, there are benches in the courtyard and a smart looking beer garden behind that.
The muzak was being played at a reasonable volume and the food menu was pub grub style with special dishes a little more expensive at between £8 -£11.The four handpumps were drawing Theakston's Old Peculier as a regular with guests Theakston Best ,XB and Caledonian Golden XPA ,a little tired and £3.50.
Pleasant enough boozer and probably worth poking your head in to see what real ales are on offer.

The Old Bulls Head is in the town centre and it is a decent looking pub.
When i visited this pub it was branded as a festival ale house but the beer choice was a bit dissapointing, there were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Shepherd Neame Spitfire and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Adnams bitter, Tetley bitter and Deuchars IPA.
The pub was quite nice inside and i was happy enough having a drink in here.
