Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Lower Red Lion

A very traditional pub located in a picture-postcard street linking the modern city to the site of Roman Verulamium. Retains a two-bar layout with a compact central servery, with further seating outdoor in the rear beer garden. The six handpumps are to be found on the lower counter, with three ales from 3 Brewers - Blonde, Classic and IPA - plus others from Tring and Bristol Beer Factory. However, on my first revisit since 2015, there was a beer festival on with a further ten interesting casks (including my Otherworld Khaos, £5.00) on a temporary stillage in the back room and some impromptu folk music back in the upper bar. Remains well worth a visit.

Will Larter left this review about Lower Red Lion

I remember coming here in years gone by, including with my grandfather, who has been gone for nearly 40 years, and wasn't up to pub going from about 1980. Now being run by the local 3 Brewers, and on this occasion all six beers were theirs. I went for the IPA, which was a bit sweet for my taste, and the Classic, which had wowed me at a previous pub. Perhaps my taste buds were jaded, or there was a residual smell of wood smoke, but this was not the same, though it came from the same batch. There was nothing wrong with the beer, it just tasted different, and I thanked the brewer/publican for taking the time to listen to me, and he thanked me for my feedback. I really must come back some time and enjoy myself properly. In the meantime, please read Graham's review below.

Excellent old pub in a quiet area with a gently historical feel, with traditional furnishings and bits of old partitions or walls. The handpump all face the room to the left - we went in the right hand side but the barmaid obligingly laid out the pump clips for us. There were 4 changing ales and a couple of ciders, plus a wall of a dozen keg taps with an interesting selection. I went for the Tring Fanny Ebbs as this had run out at a previous pub; good condition but I won't bother again. The pub definitely warrants a revisit though.
