The Green Man was glimpsed for a few second in a TopGear episode that was celebrating 40years of Lamborghini’s. Back in 1991 The Green Man, which was then owned by the brewery, was under threat of being sold as a house with planning permission for another dwelling in the grounds. With pressure from locals prevented this and The Green Man was bought by Lawrie Childs and Roger Ward, who gave The Green Man a brighter future as a free house. On 1st October 2012, a new limited company formed to manage the purchase of The Green Man. 71 shareholders from Thriplow and surrounding communities contributed varying amounts to ensure the pub would remain the open and have the best possible chance of survival.
