Ridiculously-modernised trendy interior, which you will either love or, more-probably, hate, however that would seem to be the price for retaining an establishment you can at least buy a decent pint of beer at. Go on a nice day so you can sit in the garden and you won't notice...

This roadside pub a few minutes from the M25 is very gastro indeed, but three ales on mean all is not lost - Sharp's Doom Bar, Fuller's London Pride and something I'd not come across before in Knops Musselburgh Broke, which merited only its name printed onto a piece of paper and stuck onto the handpump along with 'Today's Special', which was, alas, it was on it's way out. A chain pub by stealth, as I'm pretty sure I've seen the same menu in Cookham, Stoke Poges and Wolvercote.

Bills itself as 'Country Pub & Dining' and is one of those uber-gastro pubs, all chrome fittings, candles, new wood floors and low seating. Little room for the vertical drinker. Large garden out the back and a few uncomfortable tables at the front on the main road. Three cask beers including Doom Bar and UBU Purity at £3.70 a pint. For those looking for a more genuine pub experience the White Horse is just a minute or so away.
