I'm normally a fan of Brunning & Price pubs but this one wasn't as good as most others I've visited. Situated on the village green, it has a typical interior of the chain. The bar area is supplemented by a couple of small rooms to the left, one to the right and a larger room to the rear left. Rooms are bare boarded with rugs. Walls are covered with pictures. Toilets are upstairs and there are quite a lot of outdoor tables to the front.
The house beer is St Austell Brunning & Price Traditional Bitter. 3 guest casks were Siren Tempo & Memento & Tring Fanny Ebbs. A fifth handpull was unclipped with a label saying "coming soon". Camden Pale was on keg and the cider was Aspall's. I'm used to seeing a traditional cider in this chain but the friendly barman said that Weston's Old Rosie had been discontinued a while back.
This place seems to be more for food than drinking. Background music was playing quietly and wifi was available. For a meal, I could imagine this is a fairly reliable place to go but for the drinker, the Boot is a better option.

Paid a return visit to this one some 9 ½ years after my previous visit and in a fast changing world found it virtually unchanged. It’s still run by Brunning and Price, it’s still more of a food led restaurant than a pub but it still does a good range of ales. For this visit these included Vale Brewery Red Kite and Redemption Brewing Kazbek Blonde alongside the usual Brunning and Price Traditional Bitter (brewed by St Austell’s) and a couple of others. The difference with this visit was that we actually came here to eat and try it as a pub restaurant, and in that respect it didn’t disappoint either.

Very much a country gastro restaurant rather than a pub.
Having said that, the food is excellent, as is the beer, and not too highly priced for what you get.
A definite candidate for future visits.
