Another pub I cannot believe I have not left a review for considering I have visited it intermittently over some 45 years. It’s a large McMullen’s owned pub built during the inter-war years which sits at the top of the steep Plough Hill, and is part of their Chicken & Grill arm, leaving you in no doubt where the main focus is. Its upmarket contemporary interior retains several separate areas and although the majority are set for dining there is still plenty of room for drinkers on the right-hand side of the bar. There are usually three McMullen ales available with AK Mild, and Country tending to appear alongside a seasonal ale.
