Next door to the Wetherspoons, this has a bar open to non-residents located through the arch, into the courtyard and via an entrance to the left. An L-shaped room with contemporary decor, it's been mentioned below that it's under GK's auspices and offers a decent meal menu, although this also means an ale palette limited to GK IPA and Abbot Ale, with the latter's clip reversed. £1.75 for a half of the IPA, which to my surprise was pretty bloody good. This is a 'pubbier' alternative to some of the Hitchin Town entries and is probably worth a drop-in just to see if you can recreate my good fortune.

The Sun as it is now called fronts onto Sun Street,but the main entrance is through an archway,once through the archway it looks very nice.
Once inside the pub looks very smart with a part bare boarded and carpeted room which is L shaped, the bar is on the rear right side,the seating is a mix of normal tables and chairs and tall tables and chairs,plus two settees.
The pub is a Greene King tied house,there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of GK IPA which was decent enough,the other real ale was GK Old Speckled Hen.
Food was being served and background music was playing.
The pub was almost empty on my Saturday dinner visit.
The friendly lady behind the bar asked my age when i asked for a drink,we had a good laugh about that.
This is a pleasant and comfortable pub to have a drink in.
