Bucking Fastard left this review about The Galley Hall
Two old buildings knocked together with an attractive exterior along a country lane. The interior is more functional, left of the front door a large winding dining room with all tables set for service. The bar is ahead with a few bar stools surrounding but the few tables here also seemed for diners.A small fireplace seperates the bar area from a small rear lounge, not all set for diners before the entrance to a beer patio and a seperate dining room, possibly for hire and unused on my Wednesday lunchtime visit.
The beer terrace is large, partially covered and all tables numbered.Beyond there is a two level decked area ,then the substantial car park.Inside mindless muzak blares away, this same noise is piped outside but can't compete with the roar of the A10 which passes behind some trees.
It's all very functional and focussed on food although live music on Friday evenings is advertised. The food offereing includes lunchtime dishes around £10 besides daily specials on a chalk board more like £15.
At the bar real ales just GK Abbot and IPA,NBSS Acceptable but a rip off at £4.80 for something so bland. With large GK umberellas in the beer garden you do wonder if this pub is now tied to GK.
You can just drink in here but you will feel in the minority. With just GK ales on offer I can see no good reason to return as there is no real pub atmosphere.Maybe the food is a better bet.
