Of all the pubs I visited in Boxmoor, this was my clear favourite.Tied to Fullers and set in a quiet residential road this "cottage" style pub has two distinct bars with their own entrances off the front door.To the left is the Sports Bar ,with a public bar feel, dart board, flat screen and an attractive tiled fireplace. To the right is the larger lounge, also with a working real fireplace,a collection of books in a library case and a back area with flat screen which in turn leads to the garden, where there is substantial wooden furniture. Both bars are served by an island bar.
There was a friendly greeting from the landlady and I enjoyed my HSB (£3.40),fruity and rich. The other options were Seafarer and London Pride. No sign of food, but that wasn't my aim anyway,it is popular with the local community and had a cosy atmosphere. There were interesting prints on the wall detailing the history of Boxmoor and ,although the interior is contemporary, the pub has retained an authentic air.Well worth the uphill 10 minute walk from the canal (and HH station),I would happily return if in the area of an evening.

Not having seen Mr Thompson's note that The Post Office Arms doesn't open until 2.30pm on weekdays, it wasn't open when we visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. A well kept, Victorian, back street local a glance through the windows revealed a cosy interior and Fullers Pride, Gales Seafarers and HSB on handpumps. I'll certainly return if in the area when it's open.

Traditional small two bar pub owned by Fullers, with prices to match (HSB, £3.10 a pint). Well decorated and comfortable lounge plus a nice garden area at the back. Be aware that it doesn't open until 2.30pm on weekdays.
