Closed for over ten years, this has now been converted into a coffee shop (for now). This is an attractive old timber framed building, still displaying its West Country Ales ceramic plaque and 'castle' emblem to the sign frame.
The interior is split level and displays plenty of rough hewn beams, sadly painted black. There are a couple of fireplaces, an attractive Victorian one to the rear snug. To the entrance, there are some encaustic-style tiles, probably Victorian.
What a tragedy this pub is no longer in use.

An attractive pub from the outside the interior is a bit of a let down. Its a Brains pub and the ale was OK on my visit. It had a very limited menu. Worth a stop for a pint. but not much else
