The unpromising exterior of this Best Western hotel hides a very nice old fashioned interior with plenty of beams, rafters, settles and carved panels around the fireplaces, all imbued with that smell of well-cared-for old wood. How much of it is genuinely old and how much of it has been in this building for more than a handful of years I have no way of knowing, but it's all very nicely done.
On the bar, an interesting but modern affair of diagonally-laid bricks, are three hand pumps, and these had the ubiquitous Sharps Doom Bar and the almost local St George's Crusade available at the time of my visit. My half of Crusade was in good condition and came in at £2.90 per pint, which is not bad at all for a hotel. The room next door is presented as a coffee bar, so it seems that the hotel owners are pitching for passing trade rather than sticking to just the hotel guests, which is a policy to be applauded. My only complaint would be that the heating was too high for a mild autumn day - neither of the two very attractive fireplaces had fires lit, but the massive cast iron radiator was belting it out like there'd been a snow warning. That wouldn't put me off calling in here again, though. In some towns the size of Leominster this would be the best pub in town; here it has to compete with some seriously good boozers, but I would say definitely worth a visit.

Probably the best hotel in town and the prices reflect this. Limited parking to the rear, the bars are located at the front. A well used public bar is next to a smaller hotel bar with two interesting fire places. A seperate restaraunt leads of this. It has a large function room to the rear.
Normaly an ale or two and bar meals available.A safer place for a drink on a weekend in this busier than expected town.
