The Prince stands on a busy roundabout. It is a Greene King pub with a few different rooms, being much larger on the inside than it looks from outside.

We received a warm welcome from the barmaid on our Friday morning visit. Greene King IPA & Abbot are the regular beer, but they also had their London Glory & Wadworth 6X as guests. They also now stock a real cider - Weston's Old Rosie, a pleasing start to my day.

A few other customers were arriving for coffees or early lunches, but otherwise it was fairly quiet. A CAMRA discount is offered, but we forgot about that!

A very large corner pub tastefuly modernised inside, I quite liked the layout described in Quinnos update below.I thought six handpumps was quite impressive for a two pub village unfortunately every clip was reversed amongst those turned were a couple of Greene King usuals , St Austell Tribute and Theakstones Old Peculiar .Before I could enquire the girl behind the bar apollogised explaining a cellar issue had arisen on the day and no draft beer was available at all ,cask or keg, luckily there was a decent range of bottles so I chose a Brewdog Dead Pony Club from the Craft Fridge and very nice it was.Cellar problems not withstanding I quite liked the pub and would call in again in the unlikely event of me passing through this way again.

So there’s been a through refurb so a revisit had to be done (plus it’s now a Greene King pub). Still smells new inside. Decent refit in a style that has cropped up in a couple of other bars lately, black and silver wallpaper, grey and mushroom walls, metro tile bar back with elevated built-in fridge etc. The pool table looks to have gone. There was the promise of more ale and indeed there were six pumps – Wadworth 6X, a house beer ‘Sovereign’ from Ascot Ales, Hogs Back TEA (decent), Cotleigh Tawny (mediocre at best) and GK Abbot. There were a decent set of bottles in the fridge. Basic pub grub offered. Whilst it’s still not exactly a reason to come to Crowthorne, it at least has improved. I'm also pleased to report that Muzzy's served another top-notch kebab afterwards.

Large and basic Barras pub, the interior of which has seen better days. Full of kids, we were probably the oldest customers and we’re not exactly middle-aged. General feeling of it being somewhere that youngsters congregate who don’t have the money/guile to do a Saturday night in Reading. Pool table. Three ales; Old Hooky (pretty naff) Doom Bar, Directors and Westons Twist as the cider. One bonus is that it’s the closet pub to Muzzy’s kebab van, the second-best best kebbabage in Berkshire (Kings Grill in Reading is the best, if you’re interested). Anyway this place needs a refurb and aiming at a better market. Rated 4
