A pleasant traditional pub set half a mile or so outside of the main town. Single roomed carpeted with a scattering of regular tables and chairs also a pool table. There were just a couple of retired age punters sat at the bar on my Friday lunchtime visit, friendly enough and happily initiated conversation. Two handpumps on the bar both unexpectedly with Hop Back beers on,Cropcircle and Summer Lightening, the former in excellent shape.I very much enjoyed half an hour here, a word of warning if you are driving here, It's little bit dodgy getting back out on to the main road from the car park.

The barmaid in the Red House said it took 10-15 minutes to get here, well we managed it in 5 so don’t let the map put you off. Doesn’t immediately look pubby from the outside, a fairly plain exterior (the flora excepted) with no obvious signage bar an A-board. A bit dark inside, not sure if it qualified as atmosphere-enhancing or not. Loads of sports TVs and an upright piano spotted, plus a large pub dog. Hop Back Summer Lightning and Bombardier Gold (plus an un-noted other) at the bar and the Lightning was a decent drop. Got chatting with the barmaid (licensee?) who was quite welcoming and looked reminiscent of a female David Luiz to me but maybe that was the darkness killing my eyesight. Worth the walk and the station is quicker reached via a back route through the houses rather than re-tracing steps back to the town centre - accurate directions given at the bar! GBG 2014 listed.
