A rather scruffy Victorian backstreet corner pub with a welcome that is far from warm. The front bar is a conjoined L-shape, open plan. There is a dartboard, pool table, TV screens showing live sports and gaming machines, while several darts trophies are on display. There is a smaller bar behind which houses a pool table, not being used
when we visited. There was only one ale on, Pride, which was in very poor condition, barely drinkable. ESB was available in bottles, but there was a marked unwillingness on the part of the staff to give it to us. The landlady was almost hostile, while a couple of rude local females asked us to move from a table, not reserved, so their mates (fellow coven members rather than reproductive partners) could sit there; they too made it clear we were not welcome. Various Navy memorabilia were dotted around the walls, but I doubt most Navy personnel would want to come here nowadays. We certainly won't be coming back.
