A Hawthorn Leisure (Greene King) owned corner pub, obviously once a traditional boozer, now knocked through and opened out but not entirely ruining the pubby feel of the place, It has retained the pleasing feature of a central island bar, open on all sides, also some semi ornate woodwork survives. However when we get to the beers the interest wanes, despite there being two banks of four handpumps the only choice was Old Speckled Hen and a house beer imaginatively called Salisbury Arms, no doubt some Bury St Edmunds concoction, I settled for half a Kronenburg.I liked the pub for what it was but the beer will prevent any likely return.
