Originally a school building, this pleasant country pub is in a small hamlet off the beaten track but close enough to the main road to be easy to reach. There is limited parking at the front, some outside seating next to the road, and while there appeared to be a decent sized garden at the back, it was too dark to explore when we visited. Inside, it appears to have been recently refurbished well. The single open plan bar has four main areas which cater for families, drinkers and diners. The decor is faux-rural, with timber floors and comfortable seating. There are several water bowls for dogs. Ales on were Hopback Citra, Flacks Black Jack Porter and 'Rockingham Arms Ale' (actually Flack's Double Drop in disguise), all in excellent condition. Also on were Neck Oil, Heineken, Amstel, Moretti, Orhcard Thieves, Guinness and Brixton Bitter. The locals were a good bunch, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Well worth the deviation to find, and I'd be happy to spend an evening here.

Although I originally wrote, 'pretentious & overpriced, a good pub ruined' I'd now like to take that back, a subsequent visit revealed that such criticism had been taken on board and the place can once again be recommended.
Thanks for listening folks.
