A traditional little Pompey corner pub, liberally decorated with ships' plaques and other naval stuff. It has been refurbished internally and externally in black and white, but thankfully they have left the original fittings and character well alone. A bank of 3 handpumps offered Courage Best and Old Rosie but sadly both were off. This could be a cracking little boozer with a decent beer or two on.

"The pub, in Edinburgh Road, Landport, Portsmouth, which dates from 1887, will close in its current form on December 2.
It is known nationally and internationally for its close ties to the Royal Navy.
But due to money problems, the family that has run it for generations has had to make the tough choice to close it down, although owner Punch Taverns says it wants to find a new licensee."

A traditional sailors' pub consisting of two or three tiny rooms all knocked together to form a single small bar. This year it celebrated 50 years of being owned by the same family. There are two small tv screens, both unobtrusive. A dartboard and gaming machine provide the main entertainment. The bar staff were very welcoming, the clientele were raucous but friendly. The bar is decorated with nautical memorabilia including an impressive collection of ships' plaques, many historical, which provides a real link to the Navy. Original floorboards and fireplace, and the atmosphere was calm until the jukebox ruined it. No real ale, so good though it is I shan't be making it a regular venue although Jack should include it in a run ashore.
