A raucous backstreet local, built in Victorian times by the Pike Spicer Brewery. The downstairs is a single L-shaped bar with a pool table, 2 dartboards, TV and a wealth (or is it a poverty?) of gaming machines. When we visited it was overrun with unruly children being encouraged to misbehave by their unruly parents. There was also a dreadful live band playing who didn’t realise that excess volume does not mask lack of talent. The staff however were pleasant. There was only one ale on, Doombar, which was in average condition. Probably fine as a local but not somewhere to come for a quiet pint, and I doubt I’d include it on a crawl.

a local local. home away from home. the sort to find workmen or guys " walking the dog" whilst escaping the wife and kids. going here again
