Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Jolly Taxpayer
Splendid community pub retaining its twin-bar interior that fully justifies its place on Camra's inventory of heritage pubs. Mid-brown wood-panelling in both the calm lounge and more boisterous public bar, separated by a small off-sales counter that has somehow survived. Three real ales on handpump (all in the right-hand side): Doom Bar, London Pride and Courage Directors (£3.90).

An impressive early 19th Century town pub with a lively local feel, previously a Brickwood’s pub and now a freehouse. There is a large public bar at the front and a smaller lounge at the side. It still has the original jug and bottle door from which off sales are available, and there is a functional garden. The carpeted public bar has a pool table, dart boards, a piano and a TV showing live sports. The landlady was very pleasant and the locals were happy to see us. Ales on were Doombar, Directors and Fullers Gales HSB. The Directors was in reasonable condition, but I didn’t get to try the other 2, so I should come back some time to do so, which I’m happy to do.
