A fairly ordinary estate pub currently run by Star. It’s been refurbished in an unremarkable style and is now a lively local. The single [-shaped bar has a games area at one end with pool, darts, gaming machines and a huge screen onto which football matches are projected during ‘event’ nights. There is a more comfortable small dining area at the other end, while the bit in the middle is high tables and is more a drinking zone. There is a small paved garden at the back with tables and chairs for the few days the weather allows al fresco evenings. There was only one ale on, Doombar, which was in below average condition. Dogs are welcome, treats provided, and they hold a ‘Yappy Hour’ for canine customers as well as quizzes, steak nights and other fun-filled evenings. Probably OK if you want to watch a match, but it’s off the main road and I’m not sure I’d make it a venue of choice.
