Fishers Pond, is a large road side pub, part of the Vintage Inns Chain. The pub was refurbished a couple of years ago, so a modern interior with interesting local photos. A bit dark in the illumination front during the day, but a clean and not dingy pub.
The Gem is the large pond at the back, with a large terrace with chunky wooden furniture, very pleasant on a sunny hot afternoon.
As with a chain pub, it has the usual pub grub food on offer.
What I was surprised by was the 3 swan neck real ales, Cornwall’s Doom Bar 4%, Wale’s Brains SA best bitter 4.2%, and Yorkshire’s Black Sheep Best Bitter 3.8% which was very tasty.
On the two occasions I have visited it recently, the bar staff have always been friendly and efficient.
It’s an ok Pub, just the formulaic chain pub kind.
