As described below, it has the feel of someone’s house that has been badly knocked through and smothered with MDF. The rear games room was deserted while we were there, while the front bar was packed and full of joy generated by a half-capable solo music act. He did a Kylie cover, now I can’t get it out of my head. The gaming machines were standing sadly, stoically and silent while the pool table decayed in front of us. The staff and locals alike were friendly and welcoming, but there has been a decline in beer quality, and it no longer merits a GBG entry. There was Doombar on, in poor condition, and Pride, which was about average. Might be worth trying again in the future but there is better beer to be had in the town centre.

A nice hidden away locals boozer, five handpumps with four beers on. T.T Landlord, Doom Bar, London Pride, Courage Best and a turned clip for Flack Manor Double Drop, a very pedestrian beer range, with a bit more adventure this could be a cracker, as it is, it's mid-table.

A traditional ‘honest’ backstreet boozer, the Lardicake retains a number of period features and has a nice bit of stained glass above the main door picking out the name. The interior is a fairly basic affair, with stripped wood floor and impressive fireplace. Pool, darts and live TV football all available on my visit. What puts this one a level above is the well-kept ale (Tim Taylor Landlord, Pride and Banks Mild) on my visit. I also spotted Westons Stowford Press on keg, which I always enjoy. Clientele mainly in their 40’s, lively but well-behaved.
Undoubtedly one of Andover’s better offerings, I’d be happy to do this one again next time.
