A 19th Century town pub whose architecture is its best feature. The single bar is Spartan, layout as described below, with a pool table, gaming machines and jukebox competing for space. It was full of loud, jovial locals, not unwelcoming but not relaxing either. There are various sports trophies on display, TV screens showing live sports and one or two architectural features to notice. They offer cooked breakfasts. There was only one ale on, Landlord, which tasted like polythene and was almost undrinkable. Not somewhere I shall revisit soon.

A basic two room pub with a rather featureless interior, two beers on, Old Golden Hen and Orkney Kittiwake.There is a pool table, jukebox and Cricket was on TV. I suspect this may have been a better pub in the past than it appears now.

A Greene King pub, two handpulls, though only Ruddles available which was actually in superb condition. Unnecessarily loud and modern (ie ‘pumping’) music blighted an otherwise decent pub which was full of oldies anyway! The interior had a little charm to it but has been modernised a bit too much. Live music was being set up but I didn’t hang around to see it as I had a train to catch. I’d try this one again on a quieter day.
