Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Union Tavern
Holt's pub on the west side of the city centre that has been partly opened out and given a modest refurbishment in recent years. The bar area is still quite plain, but the side room and rear lounge (with pool table) have slightly more decoration. Although only one of the handpumps was in use, my pint of the regular Bitter (£2.95) was in fine form and excellent value.

The Union Tavern is a Holt’s Pub with a bar to the right of the entrance that supports their keg range alongside one of their real ales. The bar faces a couple of tables where some locals were tucking into some take-away pizza. In the right rear behind the bar is a pool table and in the left hand side of the pub is a large rectangular seating area. Televisions for showing Sky Sports are found throughout.
I found the barman and locals in the bar area to be very friendly and I would have no problem returning, although this pub is a way off the main drag.

The Union Tavern is a corner pub that is situated halfway down liverpool street in an industrial area.
This is a proper old looking pub from the utside with the lower half having brown tiles, once inside the pub had three rooms when we went in it,these were off the bar in the middle of the pub,we had a drink in a lounge type room which was quite nice and comfortable.
This pub is a Joseph Holt tied house and there were two real ales on the bar we had a drink of Holts bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Holts mild.
We quite liked this pub.
