I think this pub has seen better days and now needs a good refurb. The place is tired and knocked about, the leather banquette seating in the lounge side was in a bad state of repair, as it was starting to peel and bits of the surface were already falling off. All the woodwork was scruffy looking and walls just as bad. Beer wise six pumps, with five in use, we went for the Stockport Summertime, which was ok. But the Goffs White Knight, had to be returned, the young barman was fine and replaced it immediately.

Prominent corner pub with a curved frontage, featuring a partly opened-out out multi-room layout. Mix of furniture and slightly eclectic decor in the various seating areas, with some of those at the back having rooflights. Five of six handpumps in use when I visited, with a fair range of styles including what seemed to be the regular Doghouse UPA (£3.40).

Looks a bit rough and ready from the outside but nice and friendly inside. Plenty of choice at the bar for the real ale lover and two handy chalk boards at either end of the bar listing the current offerings. The bar area itself is fairly small but can get crowded, making it difficult to see the pumps, so the chalk boards are handy. On my Saturday evening visit bar service seemed to take place at the bar hatch, as the rest of the bar was taken up by gents on bar stools. I had a Citra Pale (Saltaire) and Back to Black (Brightside), both were very pleasant and in good condition. Apparently the gents' toilets here are rather basic, though I did not pay a visit myself. Good solid boozer with good beer and friendly service.
