Situated on the crossroads in Denshaw village this attractive looking pub has a good car park at the rear. A steep flight of steps lead down from here to the back door however, for those who do not possess the abilities of a mountain goat, it is better to walk around to the front door. All that has to be overcome here is two low steps and, whilst there is no dedicated disabled access, those with mobility problems may be able to enter without too much difficulty.
On entering the bar is to the right hand side, behind which is a clean and well appointed Tap Room. On the left of the entrance is the main lounge area which is partially separated into two by means of an alcove. Seating is comfortable and there is a good overall ambiance.
Lunch and Evening meals are available from a well balanced and reasonably priced menu and "Specials" board. They also offer a good choice of wines but I feel that these are overpriced by about £2 a bottle.
Children are not allowed on the premises unless dining and, even then, youngsters must be out by 6 pm and older ones up to 14 years old must be out by 7 pm. Obviously this will deter many diners but will be a blessing to others who, in the past, have had their dining experience spoilt by unruly children allowed to run wild.
Having not dined here I am unable to comment on the food so my rating is solely based on my visit for a drink and I have to say that I found it clean and cosy and one which I will revisit.
Finally, smokers will find an outside smoking area complete with tables, chairs and ashtrays. It is covered and well protected from the elements

Very poor food, owner blamed it on the young chef. But we didn't have to pay for our drinks.
