The audio guide I was following brought this atmospheric and unchanged galleried pub to my attention - And I am grateful for that. Built in the 1400s by monks to house the pilgrims.
I enjoyed my mooch around. I didnt have to worry about not making a purchase, as the bar (caskless) was unmanned and there were no other customers around. Some of the rooms are blocked off.
Worth a nose but probably not a pint.

As described by others, below, this potentially decent pub lacks both customers and atmosphere at present. There is an outside courtyard, but this was cold and also unappealing. There was no real ale on, and while the staff were chatty enough, they didn’t appear to understand what was meant by ‘real ale’. We tried the food but it was dull and unappetising. An historic building which deserves better than its current business. It’s unlikely we’ll return given its current business model.
