I recently visited The Globe in Luton, and I can honestly say I was highly disappointed. While it seems to have garnered some positive reviews, my experience was the complete opposite.

First off, let’s talk about the garden – or should I say, the rat haven. I was horrified to see rodents scurrying around under the decking and even at the edges of the seating area. It’s not exactly the ambiance one hopes for when enjoying a drink outdoors. Instead of a cozy beer garden, it felt more like a scene out of a low-budget horror film.

As for the food, calling it basic is an understatement. I ordered a meal that was not only overpriced but also bland and uninspired. I’ve had much better pub grub for half the price elsewhere. The Sunday roast that others praised must have been a different dish entirely when I received mine, as it was tough, overcooked, and lacked flavor.

The selection of ales was also underwhelming. Yes, they have some options, but none of them stood out as particularly good. I found the whole experience to be rather mediocre in terms of taste, which was disheartening given the hype.

To make matters worse, the service was lackluster. While some staff members were polite, others seemed disinterested in providing a good experience. I didn’t feel welcomed or valued as a customer.

In conclusion, I definitely wouldn’t recommend The Globe if you’re looking for a pleasant outing. With rats in the garden and overpriced, subpar food, you’d be better off somewhere else. Save your time and money and steer clear of this pub.

Very busy here just before Luton Town's last game of the Premier League season. The bar staff were working really well and I was served much quicker than I would have thought possible. Two cask beers on, with one hand pump not in use. My pint of Twickenham Naked Ladies was very good - and poured so much more easily without the sparkler I'm used to up north. Excellent beer in very good condition (NBSS 3.5) - the other option was Oakham Bishop's Farewell, but mostly it was lager, cider, Guinness and John Smith's being served while I was here.

An excellent pub, and a real local. Often busy (which is no bad thing) with sport on a couple of large TVs, positioned so that they can be seen from most areas of the pub. There is also a garden at the back which is quite pleasant in summer, and provides for a smoking area. At least one real ale on offer, usually two and occasionally three, and for me the appeal is that it is impossible to predict what they will be - beers from Fullers, Brains and Timothy Taylor may be interspersed with brewers such as Bristol Beer Factory, Wantsum, Little Critters and Anarchy. Pricing is currently at £4.20 a pint for real ales.
