Now open again and thankfully having lost the rather dopey cartoon horse on the sign, the Horseshoes has taken up the challenge of the nearby Wetherspoons and is selling real ale at just £2.50 a pint. At the time of my visit these were Theakstons XB, St Austell Tribute with the third hand pump occupied by Old Rosie cider. My half of Tribute was in very good condition. The inside of the pub is deeper than a casual glance from the street would suggest, with a step up to the pool table two-thirds of the way back and another to the seating at the very back. There's a yard alongside with smokers umbrellas. Worth a visit if you're in the Spoons and you fancy a change of scene.
