I went up the steps to the main entrance and found myself in a small public bar with three hand pumps. The customers were lively and noisy but I was only here for a quick half, so I took no notice. Beer choice was Wye Valley Butty Bach, Sharps Doom Bar and Fullers London Pride. I went for the last named but it was too cold and was clumsily poured (NBSS 2.5). I found myself a quieter corner to sit in, but on my way out I saw that I had missed a further room on the far left which looked like it might have been a better option - not so much for the beer as for the atmosphere. I see that this pub is in the Good Beer Guide again this year, so presumably the beer is not always served as cold as when I was there.

a historic multi roomed pub on an ancient high street, I felt at home as soon as I walked in - no virus hysteria, just sensible caution where required. Walked left to a tiny bar with a few regulars in and three ales on the bar - Tribute (very good), Butty Bach and Doom Bar. It felt like a proper locals pub in a tourist town. Didn’t explore the restaurant and didn’t try the food so can’t comment on it. but I would definitely return here if I was in the area again.

The last time I visited The Corner Cupboard was in the 1980's to attend an 18th birthday party, time has moved on and so has The Corner Cupboard, the function room is now laid out for dining. The interior consists of three separate areas, the first room you encounter is dominated by a rather superb stone fire place, unfortunately it's also dominated by a big screen TV nearby!
There is a smaller bar to the left of the other bar which was populated by cheerful regulars who provided some lively chatter. As I have already mentioned, the other part of the pub is set out for dining. The ales on offer were London Pride which was in good condition so I had my first taste of it, the others were Hooky, Timothy Taylors Landlord, and Sharps Doom Bar
There is a car park to the rear of the pub, where there is also wheel chair access through the back entrance and toilet facilities with wheel chair access. I have to point out that doors are needed to be held open for wheel chair users, I should also mention that there is a step into both bars that you need to be aware of.
Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening out with friends and family, and would happily return in the near future given the opportunity.
