Little has changed in the intervening years between the below reviews and my visit last night. Although it looks to have had a lick of paint externally, inside it retains cosy Public Bar-Saloon Bar layout–the latter the larger of the two, down a step and bare-boarded with a tiny bar counter still offering a three-ale line-up (Sharp's Doom Bar, Wainwright Gold and a limited edition Tring beer called 'Our Shark', which was the dearest pint of the night at £5.55). We chose the the cosy Saloon Bar with its mere three tables and even smaller bar counter. Very dog-friendly with standard "well-behaved owners" sign and plenty of pooch-oriented treats. Also good on the low- and no-alcohol selection, which my 'des' was effusive about. Much espousement of their forthcoming 'Chedfest' – a music and beer festival. I'd give that one a swerve, as you'd struggle to partake in any moggy-swinging in either of the pub's rooms. TL;DR? I like it; please don't change.

A small two-roomed cottage, with saloon bar to the left and public to the right. I went to the right and found a pleasant room with a log fire next to the bar in the corner. The friendly landlord was welcoming, and he told me that the wall decorations, which consisted of sheet music and illustrations of various guitars, were a reflection of his previous existence as a musician. What I could see of the saloon suggested a more traditional décor. (For the gents' toilets, you have to leave the building altogether.)
Three hand pumps were dispensing Sharps Doom Bar, Wells Bombardier and Greene King IPA. I know that small village pubs like this are not going to be in business long if they offer outlandishly named and over-hopped beers, but it is a little depressing nonetheless to be faced with a choice of three pretty ordinary beers like these. To be fair, the GK IPA was well kept and went down a treat, but even if I hadn't been cycling I can't say I'd have been all that keen for another. Beer choice gripe over, I have to say that this would be my preferred local if some far-fetched random event were to lead to me becoming a resident of Cheddington.

This smallish two bar village pub is well described by Mr Fastard below , so nothing to add there. Two of the three ale pumps were in operation for my visit and a passable pint of Bombadier was had.
With the closure earlier this year of the Old Swan up the road this now remains as the only pub serving the village of Cheddington and was being fairly well utilised on the late Sunday afternoon of my visit, although the Liverpool v Man city game being shown had something to do with there being a crowd in the public bar.
Pleasant enough place and long may it continue to serve the good people of Cheddington, but not one I could really recommend you detour from The Grand Union Canal to search out, unless you were on route to the train station just up the road.
