We visted this pub in order to meet with long-time friends on 7 December and were very disappointed. Food was late being delivered (a one-hour wait) and was very limited when it eventually arrived. Maybe this is a beer-lover's pub, but the food was a big disappointment and the occasion was embarrassing for such a personal event. rating - barely 5!

This is an attractive pub with two outside seating areas, but limited parking. Inside it partly traditional, partly modern with soft seating and it really is a gastro pub, with a raised restaurant area. Adnams Bitter, Broadside and because it was the day after the event, Royal Wedding Ale was available from hand pumps. The wine list has bottles in excess of £600, but a small glasse of pump dispensed Coke was only £1.05. It was a bit pretentious for us and Adnams is not a favourite, so we will not be making a special journey to visit again.

The fact that this gastro pub has had a prominent listing in "The Good Pub Guide" and the "Good Beer Guide" every year since 2002 speaks for itself. None of the other pubs in the area can claim that distinction.
